Description
- ABS, or acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, is a black plastic pipe that is commonly used for drainage, sewage, and vents. It is also often used in drain-waste-vent (DWV) systems to remove wastewater.
- ABS is ideal for these applications because it’s very durable and can withstand low and high temperatures, making it resistant to both chemical and physical damage. It won’t corrode or rust like metal pipes.
- Used for drainage, sewage, and vents
- Handles lower temperatures well
- Less flexible but stronger and more shock-resistant than PVC
- One-step pipe connecting process
- ABS pipes are better suited for outdoor underground plumbing because of their strength and resistance to shock, so they’re usually the go-to choice for sewage drains.
